I just finish reading the first book,'travelling light' by Max Lucado. i'm really blessed by e book. i'm surprised that i can read so fast.. i finish e book within 4 days.. usually i think i will take weeks to finish it.. but this book is easy to read and understand.. really apply to my life for many areas...
this book talk about travelling light.. maybe we go out of our house without taking a heavy luggage, but travelling light refer to travelling light in our hearts.. many of us may take up many invisible burdens in life.. like disappointments, anger, hurt, discontent, weariness, worry, guilt, hopelessness, self-reliance, arrogance, fear, grief, loneliness, shame, envy, doubt, etc etc.. we tend to take up these burdens without us knowing it.
God does not want us to carry these burden.. He wants to take all our burdens in His hands, so that we can travel life light. He is our Shepherd. He is our Protector, our Guide.
Max Lucado refer to Psalm 23 (NKJV):
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me besides the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Your prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
He really explain and expand on this passage.. After reading the book, i truly understand more about God's character; that He is my shepherd, He will protect me, He will guide me, He will always be there for me. With Him, I will be satisfied. In Him, I can find rest, I can find peace. He will continue to guide my life, that I can live a righteous life for Him. In Him, I could find solution, I'm assured that He will plan my days and I do not need to worry about tomorrow. I do not need to be disappointed as the Lord will take care of things well for me.
With Him, I do not need to face e world alone, I do not need to feel alone. He is always with me. He will stand in front of me and lead me on.
Jesus faced the power of death, and He overcame it. Because of Him, I will not face death, I will only face the shadow of death.
I do not need to depend on my own strength, my Shepherd will help me, He is my source of strength.
Most importantly, my shepherd's name is Yahweh. means 'I am' or 'I cause'. God does not need any additional description behind 'I am'. God needs no description because he never change. He is and He will always be. He is unchanging, uncaused, ungoverned, a God that has no limitation because He is the One who creates everything. He is like a solid rock, never ever change. In Him, I know that I'm secure, I can trust in Him all e days of my life.
After reading the book, it really challenged me to start to live a life without carry any additional luggage that i never intend to bear. when i took it up again, i got to learn to put it down again, till i really learnt to put down all the unwanted luggages.
Travel light.
A life satisfied, happy, free..
Wanna learn to lift up all my burdens to my Lord.. the author and finisher of my faith. when i trust in Him, i'll be like mount Zion, unchanging and stable. i will not be like waves at the sea, that will change according to weather and circumstances.
Lord, teach me how to dwell in Your house forever. A life that Your desire me to live. A life that is full of blessings till overflowing. And goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.
I want to travel light. A life burden-free.
